The Salmonberry Railroad, the site of the proposed future Salmonberry Trail, is owned by the Port of Tillamook Bay and is closed to public use. The tunnels, trestles, and rails are hazardous and have not been maintained since the 2007 flood event.Looking to the future, the Salmonberry Project is in the visioning and planning stages examining the 86 mile portion of the Port of Tillamook Bay (POTB) railroad that lies between the city of Banks and the Tillamook airport as the possible location for a rails to trails conversion project.
